Integration of Adventure-based Counseling and Scouting Programme -
Degree of Application of Adventure Education in Scout Troops Survey
Adventure-based education (ABE) has been widely applying in youth educational programme in recent years. On one side youth organizations and schools are keening to promote ABE in their programme curriculums. While on the scouting side many scout units and activity units are also motivated to include ABE activities in some certain extends in their programme and training. Integrating adventure education in scouting programme has been a hot issue in the association.
To facilitate the discussion for this issue we have done a survey in the period between April and July 2006, collected more than 250 samples from scouters and scout members from more than 40 scout units, to find out the current facts in scout troops and to seek opinions from scout leaders. Besides, we've also visited 11 scout units and 4 youth centres for interviews to find out more in-depth details and make a comparison between the two systems in applying ABE in their programme.
